Our first Classic in 2010!

The weather was chilly with rain, even frozen rain. It was awful for all Matiss participants who completed their 36 holes at the Shenendoah Golf Club in the state of New York on the week-end of March 17th and 18th. Surprisingly, the course was in great shape after severe showers on Friday, prior to the event. Competitors of all categories showed remarkable skills in rotten conditions as they were ready to embrace a new season. They were there to win!

First of all, we wish to congratulate Catherine Rousseau of the Royal Quebec Golf Club as she won the pee-wee category (girls 10-13 yrs old) at her first attendance in a Matiss Tour Classic.
Sun Kim representing the Vaudreuil Golf Club took where he left last year with his first win in the boy’s pee-wee category (12-13 yrs old). His score card for his two rounds showed an 11-shot lead with 151. At 11 years old, he decided to upgrade his category to challenge himself this year!
In the girl’s junior category (14-18 yrs old), Elyse Archambault from St-Jean won the honours. She played 76 in her second round and managed to fill and triumph over a 5-stroke lead held by Josée Doyon.
The Quebec Provincial Junior Team in the juvenile category (14-15 yrs old) made good impression by taking both first and second places with Pierre-Alexandre Bédard from Chibougamau who completed his rounds with a total score of 154 and Samuel Reid with a 162.
But the dispute for first place in the junior category gave place to a superb 3-holes battle between Paolo Addona and Julien Goulet where Paolo Addona from the Beloeil Golf Club finally won the 18th green. Both players played a cumulative score of 150 on their two rounds on a golf course of over 7000 yards.
