Matiss Tour announces the opening of its fifth season and registration may be entered now. We are proud that over 435 members applied last year and will continue our efforts this year to make sure all young golfers from the Province of Quebec will have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent in well-managed tournaments.
Changes for 2010
Increase of the membership card
In 2010, the membership card will increase at $ 75.00 for players in the development tour and $ 50.00 for players in the Mini-Matiss tour. Steps must be taken to stabilize the growth of Matiss Tour and maintain its long term target. Past years have in fact been hard on finding sponsors and we must act now to maintain our level of activities. You may contact the Tour director for more information, if needed. It is important to us that you understand the meaning of this decision.
Game option for 10 year-old players
Mini-Matiss category : “First start” option is available for less experimented players aged 10 years old and less wishing to play from shorter distances and attend golf clinics to improve their game. Any 10 year-old player winning a Classic will thereafter necessarily joint either categories Mosquito for boys and Pee-Wee for girls in their next participation.
Prices for winners
In the Mini-Matiss category – “First start” participant aged 8 and less with the best game of the day will be presented with a gold medal and a prize. It will give the chance to an 8 year-old to distinguish from a 9 year-old. As usual, for all other categories Matiss Tour will reward the three first places – Gross score – but will no more reward a winner by handicap score. This season, we will invest more in participants’ prizes with nearly $ 2,000.00 for each Classic.
New Classics
Two virtual Classics
Wishing to extend your golf season and to provide new Classic alternatives, Matiss Tour will hold two Virtual Classics. Golf 18 of Laval and Beauport will host these two classics in 2010. Participants will play golf courses such as Pebble Beach and Harbour Town Golf Links hosts of PGA tournaments.
School Classic and Team Classic
In September, we innovate by proposing a Classic by pairs with same categories as regular classics. This 18-holes Classic will be held at the Montcalm Golf Course. Details will follow soon.
The Stoneham Golf Course in Quebec City will host the School Classic in which four players of the same school will to bring the trophy. The Classic will be opened to members of the Matiss Tour attending the same school. Details will follow soon.
We wish you a great season 2010!
